Recorded materials consist of folk tales by Sara Cowan, folk tales and musical performances by an unidentified male informant and by various participants at a senior citizens' luncheon on Pebble Creek in Day, Kentucky. The recordings also contain interviews with Cowan, which cover various folklife topics and her personal life experiences. Musical performances consist of Anglo-American folk songs performed by unaccompanied voice, solo violin, and voice accompanied by violin.
